One of the crowning jewels of EDM is its ability to take the listener on a musical journey. Phobos, by Marc Romboy and Stephan Bodzin, will breathe new meaning into that concept, pushing the boundaries on where you thought you could go. I haven't heard something this moving since Deadmau5' Strobe, and I don't say that lightly. Deep basslines intermingle underneath a starry sky of wobbly prog synth lines. Then the track heads to the heart as emotions build over increasingly opening filters, giving the track even more power as it proceeds forward. There are two versions of the track on this post, one with a kickdrum and one that concentrates mostly on the instrumentation, known as the "synthapella."

Marc Romboy runs the label Systematic Recordings, a label that an meant to be an outlet for fierce, pumping and forward-thinking EDM. Here's a little excerpt about the label from his website: "Strictly dedicated to the dancefloor, the sound of Systematic could be described as a fusion of early Chicago house drafts from heroes like Steve Silk Hurley, Marshall Jefferson or Derrick Carter, the complex and funky appeal of mid-eighties electro/breakdance rap visionaries Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and Whodini, and last but not least, that very essential freaky acid party touch." Sweetness. The duo also just put out a compilation album called Luna, a massive set of music featuring eleven new originals, an 80 minute mix, and some extra remixes featuring some of the very best out there. Definitely check these guys out!
