Insomniac Eyeing '94 Woodstock Grounds For EDC NY

Insomniac apparently have big plans for the NY branch of their daisy garden, as officials are eyeing the spot which hosted Woodstock '94 for EDC NY 2014.

The Daily Freeman, a Hudson Valley local news outlet, reports that Insomniac COO Simon Lamb and company presented their initial plan to the Town Board Aug. 15 in hopes of securing permission to move forward with their proposal. As proposed, the festival would take place over three days and offer camping, four to seven stages, carnival rides, fireworks, art, and everything else we've come to expect from a high-powered Insomniac event to the 75,000 capacity Winston Farm.

“What makes our events special relative to other music festivals and other concerts, you know, [is] we create an environment that’s filled with installation art, fireworks, costumed performers,” Lamb said. “It’s much more of a combination of a carnival, theater, music, art and special effects. We encourage the audience to participate in the event.”
Insomniac earned a favorable response from board members, who indicated they were supportive of the festival proposal, but noted that it would still need to be approved by the town’s Planning Board and obtain all necessary permits. Lamb added that this is a long-term relationship Insomniac is pursuing, and they hope to throw successful festies on the farm grounds for years to come. Here's hoping EDC NY has a great new home come next year.

Be The Night With PVD and Christian Burns

Paul Van Dyk and Christian Burns We Are The Night

The latest single from trance legend Paul Van Dyk, We Are Tonight, saw an official release today, featuring the massive original and a more progressive take from from Walden on the trance anthem.

The original is a collaboration between PVD and British vocalist Christian Burns, and offers some classic trance vibes and epic intonation from Burns for a set-ender the Vandit Records boss will no doubt be hammering crowds with for some time to come.

The Walden remix is a more aggressive, electro-tinged take on PVD's original, maintaining the huge lead and adding in some abrasive basslines for a grittier feel on the smooth trance jam. Pick up your copy here, out now on Armada.

Avila Teases Tronco

Rising Spanish star Danny Avila released his latest video today, featuring insight and live footage from Avila at Webster Hall Aug. 3 set to his forthcoming single, Tronco, out Aug. 26 on Musical Freedom.

Tronco is a pounding, visceral creation with enough energy to power the most massive of stages, and the sold-out crowd at Webster didn't seem to hate it, judging from the madness he incited by dropping the unreleased tune. Catch Danny as he heads out on tour at the end of August. Dates and locations here.

EZoo Times Set Loose

electric zoo 2013 set times

NY ragers, start your planning. Electric Zoo announced the set times for this year's massive event in Randall's Island Park today, and fans are going to have a tough time picking between the great acts on all three days.

Friday rounds out with Avicii, Knife Party, and Baauer all playing headlining sets within 15 minutes of each other, so choose wisely. Luckily, Dog Blood begins about 30 minutes before these three, so fans have the opportunity to catch about a half-hour of the acid terror that is Skrillex and Boys Noize before continuing their trip to the zoo with one of the three massive names finishing out Friday. On Saturday, the choose-your-own-rave adventure takes fans from Datsik to Hardwell and Dada Life, and culminates with the A-Trak-Bassnectar conundrum before offering Tiesto or Moderat as the final two options. Sunday will see Steve Aoki, Sebastian Ingrosso, Chase & Status, and Adam Beyer close out the festival just as Markus Schulz is wrapping up his set. Pick up tickets and check out the entire schedule here.
