LESSTHAN3 PRESENTS
The Top 15 Electro Tracks Of 2013
Sometimes, it's not enough for the music to move you. Sometimes, you need the music to make you get up out of your chairs, go to the window, open it up, and yell. You need gnarly basslines, emphatic synths, and a stop-you-in-your-tracks drop. What you need, friend, is electro. 2013 continued the genre's meteoric rise into the forefront of mainstream EDM, and we here at LessThan3 couldn't be happier. Here are 15 of the most frenzied and feverish electro tracks of the year.
#15
Pegboard Nerds & Splitbread - High Roller (Far Too Loud Remix)
When listening to an artist with a name like Far Too Loud, it should come as little surprise that things might get a little aggressive. His remix of High Roller is complex, energetic, and, put simply, absolutely raging. A word of warning to the uninitiated--this isn't the kind of track you should play at a church social.

#14
Oliver - MYB (Original Mix)
It doesn't take a genius to figure out what MYB stands for, but then again, even a simpleton could tell you that this is yet another flawless production by LA-based duo Oliver. It's catchy, easily accessible, and infinitely groovy. Some call it nu-disco, others electro. We call it fantastic.

#13
Zomboy - Bad Intentions (Original Mix)
"It's f*cking Zomboy!" Not content with ruling our 2013 Dubstep Chart or showing up at #11 on our Glitch Hop Chart, Zomboy has also laid claim to one of the hottest electro tracks of the year. Heavy bass? Check. Extraordinary synthwork? Check. Face-melting drops? Ok, we think you get it already. A far cry from a simple Skrillex clone, the dude comes correct on virtually every track he makes.
Zomboy - Bad Intentions (Original Mix) [No Tomorrow]
#12
Tritonal feat. Underdown - Follow Me Home (Original Mix)
We've crash-landed on Tritonia and we never want to go home! The opening track off their Metamorphic II EP, Follow Me Home is a snarling, megaton bomb that seamlessly blends Tritonal's uplifting vocals with a peak-time electro drop.

#11
Destructo - Higher (Original Mix)
"Get higher baby. Wub. Wub." LA producer and HARD CEO Destructo took the festival world by storm this summer with the release of Higher. Featuring a bouncing bass, an ethereal melody, and a toothsome groove, we dare you to remain stationary when this track hits the speakers. Seriously, we double dare you.
Destructo - Higher (Original Mix) [Boysnoize]
#10
Feed Me - Death By Robot (Original Mix)
Death By Robot can best be summed up by one word: unstoppable. Complex, theatrical, and endlessly gritty, this is a textbook example of why we and the rest of the world are madly in love with the little green goblin known as Feed Me. Don't sleep on the rest of his debut album, Calamari Tuesday, either.
Feed Me - Death By Robot (Original Mix) [Sotto Voce]
#09
Mercer - Supreme (Original Mix)
You know that disgusted look that hits your face when you smell something incredibly rancid? One listen to Mercer's Supreme and you'll be stuck with that expression all day. To call this track filthy might be the understatement of the year--it features one of the hardest, no-nonsense drops of 2013, bar none.
Mercer - Supreme (Original Mix) [Spinnin]
#08
Bassjackers - Zing (Original Mix)
Rolling drums, uncompromising bass, and knockout snares made Zing a staple in mainstage sets worldwide and turned Bassjackers into electro and big room darlings. Forgoing a convoluted track structure in favor of a minimal approach, the dexterous Dutch duo created a hit track equally at home in the club or at the festival. Nicky Romero would be proud.
Bassjackers - Zing (Original Mix) [Protocol]
#07
Tommy Trash - Monkey In Love (Original Mix)
No electro house chart would be complete without the Bad Boy from Down Under, Mr. Tommy Trash. When he wasn't throwing down some of the most energetic sets of the year, Tommy was busy releasing hard-hitting gems like Monkey In Love. Need a song synopsis? How about "over five minutes of primal adrenaline." We can't wait to see what he has in store for us next year.
Tommy Trash - Monkey In Love (Original Mix) [Size]
#06
Major Lazer - Bubble Butt (Dada Life Remix)
It takes a special kind of group to take on Major Lazer's bootyshaking anthem, Bubble Butt, and the champagne-popping, banana-eating duo known as Dada Life are nothing if not special. Dark, grimy, and with a hint of menace, the remix is an audial assault that will have you jiggling your undercarriage for days on end. "Turn around, stick it out, show the world you got a..."

#05
Michael Woods - The Pit (Original Mix)
Michael Woods is certainly no stranger to dark and dirty electro house, but he might have outdone himself with The Pit. Pulsing and pounding, this is exactly the kind of track we want to hear late in the night. It even has a bit of a nostalgic edge to it, reminding the listener of the old school underground parties of yore. Oh yeah, we almost forgot--screw the Biebs.

TJR - What's Up Suckaz (Original Mix)
Melbourne house took the world by storm in 2013, and much of its breakout success was because of What's Up Suckaz. TJR's infectious anthem had people shuffling from New York to Sydney, and it was the perfect mid-afternoon track to turn any festival into a raucous affair.
TJR - What's Up Suckaz (Original Mix) [Rising]
#03
Clockwork - Surge (Original Mix)
When he isn't spending his time running the trap as RL Grime, Henry Steinway is annihilating dancefloors everywhere as electro house kingpin Clockwork. Featuring the standout vocals of EDM mainstay Wynter Gordon, Surge is half melodic, half funky, and 100% mesmerizing. Is it safe to call this guy the Bo Jackson of EDM yet?
Clockwork feat. Wynter Gordon - Surge (Original Mix) [Dim Mak]
#02
Madeon - Technicolor (Original Mix)
When it comes to talented young producers, few, if any, even begin to approach Hugo Leclercq, better known as Madeon. Aside from producing three songs on Lady Gaga's ARTPOP album, 2013 also saw the French phenom release quite possibly his most incredible song to date, Technicolor. Vivid, expansive, breathtaking, beautiful--it is all of these things and so much more. In fact, it would have easily landed him the top spot on our Electro Chart for the second year in a row, if it wasn't for another Frenchman...
Madeon - Technicolor (Original Mix) [popcultur]

Gesaffelstein - Pursuit (Original Mix)
There is a new champion in 2013! Gesaffelstein, the sharp-dressed sex symbol of Bromance, took the world by storm this year with the release of his highly-anticipated debut album, Aleph. Dark, brooding, and totally enthralling, the album was one for the record books, as was its lead single, Pursuit. Accompanied by a weird and crazy music video, this is one song that we just couldn't get out of our collective heads. The G-Man Cometh.
